This shot shows a nice capture of emotion and would normally get my vote but I think that the crafting of the pose and composition in the other shot shows greater artistic value. |

to add to my comment, I love the classic samurai pose drawing out the sword in defense of an oncoming threat. The mountains in the background harken to a foreign location, and the toning reminds me of a pink cherry blossom which adds to the Asian motif. |
